John Denver became a star through the folk-inspired songs he composed, the majority of which are set in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell, New Mexico. He was enthralled by Colorado and moved to Aspen. Denver's anthems for his adopted state have attracted many people to Colorado. G. Brown the curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame said that John Denver was by far one of the most popular artists who represented Colorado. Denver was inducted into the Hall of Fame as its the first member in 2011. For many, Denver is the image of Colorado. In my journeys, you meet someone from the other end of the planet, one who is from New Zealand and you say "I'm originally from Colorado and the first word that comes out of their mouth is"Oh John Denver! Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads - cowritten with Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo singer after a brief period in small folk ensembles. Danoff had written the song with the inspiration of Johnny Cash, but Denver was able to hear an early version and knew it would become an instant hit in the top 10. Just a few days after performing to an excited audience in Washington D.C., the artist recorded the song.
